"and the government shall be upon His sholders" Isaiah 9:6
When we try to make sense out of the world today, we always need to defer to the Bible for understanding. The Word of God says that in the "last days" difficult times would come (2 Timothy 3). While in previous times the Lord spoke through His prophets, He is now speaking to us through His Son Jesus. Only Jesus Himself has the power and authority to govern this world (Hebrews 1:1-2). It was through Christ Jesus that the world was created, and it can only be govened with Justice when Jesus returns and sets up His throne in the new temple in Jerusalem. As we endure the insanity that is overtaking the world of Man, we can be encouraged by the Word of God as we look forward to the rule and reign of Jesus the Messiah.
It is always a blessing and encourgement to listen to Handel's Messiah suring the year. There is a wonderful - joyful - powerful - encouraging chorus that is set to the text of Isaiah 9:6. It is a piece of music that is filled with hope. In these days we need to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus as we serve Him here on earth. But we need to remind ourselves that there will be neither "peace on earth" nor "good will towards men" (Luke 2:14) until Jesus returns. Till then, we must endure a world that will continue it slide towards a state of chaos and lawlessness.
When Jesus returns, He will rule the world in justice and righteousness from His throne in a reconstructed temple in Jerusalem. Till then we must endure the government of Man. These are the "last days" according to the Bible, and we need to encourage one another to "keep our eyes fixed on Jesus" (Hebrews 12:2) the author and finisher of our faith.
